The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the best Android device with a large screen that you can buy as of now. Or maybe when Samsung says the battery exploding issue has been resolved. Apart from the battery issue of the phone, the Galaxy Note 7 may not disappoint its buyers.

However, not being disappointed with the phone doesn’t mean that you won’t run into some minor but annoying problems. Not all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices are affected by these issues, but those who have it, are desperately looking for quick fixes.

This common Samsung Galaxy Note 7 problems and fixes post is all about those annoying problems and possible solutions for them. So, if you are one those unfortunate buyers who have some difficulties with the Galaxy Note 7, this post might just help you out.

Note: Most of the common Galaxy Note 7 problems are software related issues and can be resolved with a software update to the device. So, before trying any of the fixes, check for any pending updates.

Common Galaxy Note 7 Problems and Fixes

Some of the most common Galaxy Note 7 problems include phone freezing and crashing, rebooting issue, wallpaper issue, media player issue, vibration problem, WiFi problem, Bluetooth issue, NFC issue, Battery issue, sound/audio problem, overheating issue, and camera issue, etc.

    Unorganised App Tray

Now, this may not be an issue, but why I included this first in the list is because this is an annoying problem that most of the Galaxy Note 7 users are reporting. The newly reshuffled app tray is confusing, to say the least.

As you install new apps, it will be pushed to the top. If you are one of those who wants to have their app tray organised in alphabetical order for an easier finding of apps, this can be annoying.
There are a couple of things that you can do to keep the app tray organised. You can put your apps in the alphabetical order by tapping on the three dots menu and arrange them in A-Z order.
You can create an app folder and put all the essential apps in the folder for better access. To do this, tap on the three-dot Menu and tap on Edit. Now drag one app over another to create a new folder.

    IRIS Scanner Not Working Problem

Th IRIS scanner in the Galaxy Note 7 is a nice addition concerning security. However, some of the Note 7 owners have reported that they are unable to get IRIS scanner working all the time.
There are a couple of things you can do to resolve this problem. The first thing should be doing is keep the front camera and recognition LED clean. Also, makes sure that you hold the device 10-15 inches away from your face.

If nothing seems working, try to set up the Iris scanner all again. Go to Apps >> Settings >> Lock Screen and Security >> Iris >> Remove. Now start all again and set up the Iris scanner.

    Strange Sounds from Speaker

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with IP68 water-resistant rating which means your device should work just fine even if takes a dip in the water. However, some of the Galaxy Note 7 users had reported that the Galaxy Note 7 speaker is making a strange sound at times when it got wet.

The problem could be because the speakers are still wet and are not entirely dry. The best you can do is shake the device and take out the water and leave it idle for some time.

One thing you should remember that you should always keep your device away from Sea/salt water. The IP68 rating can protect the phone from fresh water, but salt water is poison for any electronic device unless made specifically for that purpose.

Galaxy Note 7 Freezing, Crashing Problem

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes with a powerful hardware which can take any app and game. However, despite having such a powerful hardware some users have reported of frequent freezing and crashing of the device. Some also have said that the phone goes into reboot loop.
For freezing and crashing, try a simple restart or manual restart. If that does not work, try wiping cache partition. To do this, turn off your phone. Press and hold Power Volume Up Home button. Keep it pressed until you see the Samsung logo.

When you see the Android icon, release the button. Next, you should see the System Recovery Mode. Use Volume Down to navigate and select Wipe cache partition. Press Power Key to enter it. Then select Yes and wait till the process is finished. Select Reboot system to restart your phone.

Other potential solutions are resetting the settings and doing a factory reset. You can find the instruction on how to perform settings reset and factory data reset at the end of this article.

Fix a Bricked Galaxy Note 7

Having a bricked Galaxy Note 7 is like not having the device at all as the device will be useless unless you bring it to life again. Fortunately, there is a way to fix the bricked Galaxy Note 7.
A user at the XDA Forum has written a detailed guide on how to fix the bricked Galaxy Note 7, so follow the instructions given here.

    Galaxy Note 7 Vibration Problem

The Galaxy Note 7 can do the basic tasks of vibrating when you receive a text or notification alert or phone call just like any other device. In case you are having a problem with your phone’s vibration, here are few fixes.

Vibration Intensity: If the problem is with phone’s vibration intensity, you can adjust the way you want it to perform. Go to Apps >> Settings >> Sounds and Vibration >> Vibration
    Intensity
and adjust the intensity by dragging the sliders.

DND Settings: If you have enabled the Do Not Disturb feature you won’t receive any notification for a period. It will also block Vibration option for any of the notifications. To check the status of DND, go to Apps >> Settings >> Sounds and Vibration >> Do Not Disturb.

    No Vibration while ringing:
To enable Vibration while ringing, go to Apps >> Settings >> Sounds and Vibration. Tap on Vibrate while ringing to enable this option.

If nothing seems working, try resetting the Galaxy Note 7 settings. You can also go for Factory Data reset (reset instructions can be found at the end of the post).

    Light Bleeding Issue

Almost every new smartphone launched these days have the light bleeding issue complaint by the users and the Galaxy Note 7 is not an exception here. Some users have reported that the light bleeds from the edge of the display. It is becoming very common among phones that have a very thin bezel on the sides.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do here. The best you can do is take your device to the Samsung store and try to get the problem solved.

    Galaxy Note 7 Camera Issue

Galaxy Note 7 comes with a great camera, or as some say, the best camera on an Android phone as of now. However, what’s the use of such good camera when the camera app itself does not launch?

Whenever you try to launch the Galaxy Note 7 camera app, you will be greeted with an error message indicating app failure. This could be because of Smart Stay feature in the phone that is preventing the launch of the camera.

If you have the Smart Stay enabled, disable it. Go to Apps >> Settings >> Advanced Features and turn off Smart Stay.

Also, force close the Camera app from the Application Manager. To do this, go to Apps >> Settings >> Applications >> Application Manager >> Camera app. Tap on Force Stop and relaunch the app.

    Galaxy Note 7 Wallpaper Issue

On your Galaxy Note 7, you can set custom wallpapers. However, some of the owners of the device have reported that the phone will reset the default wallpaper with every start. It seems to be a software bug and can be fixed in a future update.

The best you can do here is, try resetting your phone to factory default. This has worked for some and might just work for you as well (reset instructions can be found at the end of the post).

Galaxy Note 7 USB Not Connecting to PC Problem

You can use the USB cable given in the box to connect your phone to PC/Mac and transfer files. If you are on Mac, you may need to use the Android File Transfer program. But, for Windows, the PC will recognise the device easily.

In case you are facing problems such as continued disconnection from PC after connecting the device to PC using USB cable, then here are quick fixes.

When you connect your phone to PC using USB cable, open the notification panel by swiping down from the top. Tap on USB Charging notification and select File Transfer instead.
Change your PCs port. At times, using different USB port does the trick.

Also, check if your phone’s USB cable is working fine. The USB cable will work with any other compatible device. So, try connecting the device to PC using the same USB cable. You may want to change USB cable in case, found defective.

Install Samsung USB drivers for Windows if necessary.

    Overheating Issue

Overheating issues are there on every Android smartphone these days and Galaxy Note 7 is not far behind in consumer complaints regarding the same. Overheating issues are at times fixed using software updates if the company finds it necessary.

If not, you can take these things into consideration. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 supports fast charging which allows the device to charge quickly. However, in the process, the device may show signs of heating.

You can try disabling the fast charging feature and see if that affects the device. Go to Apps >> Settings >> Battery >> Advanced Settings.

Avoid using your phone when it is charging. Also, close all the unnecessary, power hungry apps when not in use.

If the issue persists and become unbearable, kindly visit the Samsung store and don’t take any risk with the device.

    Galaxy Note 7 Battery Problem

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes with a decent battery pack and lasts you a day when used with care. However, some are seeing drastic battery draining issues out of the box.

Turn off Bluetooth – WiFi: Bluetooth and WiFi can be the reason why your device is not lasting enough on a charge. Turn off Bluetooth when not in use. And turn off your WiFi when you are on cellular data. If you are using your phone as WiFi hotspot, then be sure to turn it off as it is a battery hog.

Check Apps: You may also want to check which apps is causing battery draining issue. To do go to Apps >> Settings >> Battery >> Battery Usage. Look at the stats and get rid of the apps that are unnecessary but are consuming too much of power.

App Power Monitor: App power Monitor is a Galaxy Note 7 feature that allows the phone to put apps to sleep automatically when not in use. To enable this, Go to Apps >> Settings >> Battery >> App Power Monitor. Next, tap on the three dot menu and select Advanced Settings to change when the phone puts apps to sleep.

A defective battery can also be the reason why your device is not able to perform as expected. So take your device to Samsung store for a permanent fix.

    Bluetooth Issue

Some users have reported that they are unable to pair their Bluetooth devices such as a headset with the phone anymore. The phone does not recognise the device when searched for. There are a couple of such Bluetooth related problems that you may encounter. Here are a couple of fixes that might just do the trick.

Unpair the Device: At times, unpairing the device and repairing is the only thing that you need to resolve the problem. So, go to Bluetooth settings and unpair the device that is having a problem with connectivity. Repair it and you should have it working.

Force Stop Bluetooth App: Go to Application Manager and force stop the Bluetooth share app. To do this, go to Apps >> Settings >> Applications >> Application Manager. Tap on three dots and tap on the app called Bluetooth share. Open it, tap on Force Stop. If needed, tap on Clear Cache. Relaunch the app from the same window and see if that resolves the error.

    Google Now Launcher Issue

Google Now Launcher is one of the best custom launchers that you can install on your smartphone. But, to use it, you have to install it first.

Some Galaxy Note 7 owners have a problem installing or after installing the Google Now launcher. The problem seems to be with the Samsung Knox feature, but there is a workaround to get it done.

Note: If you have already installed the Google Now Launcher, uninstall it.
Disable Samsung Knox by going to Settings >> Lock Screen and Security >> Secure Folder >> Uninstall >> Backup and Uninstall.

Next, install Google Now Launcher and configure it. Now you have enabled the Knox Security. To do this go to Settings >> Lock Screen and Security >> Secure Folder and set it up.

    Resetting Galaxy Note 7 Settings

If you don’t want to factory reset your phone, then you can reset only the settings of the phone. This way you can reset the settings without deleting any files.
Go to Apps >> Settings >> Backup and Reset >> Reset Settings. Confirm the decision when prompted.

Factory Data Reset Galaxy Note 7

If you want to factory data reset Galaxy Note 7, here is how to do it. Note that factory data setting the device will delete everything from your phone and the phone will be as clean as it was when you purchased it.
