OnePlus 3 is the latest offering from the OnePlus and has been introduced as the successor to OnePlus 2. The device itself offers good hardware and a unique software experience as well. However, with all said and done, there are a couple of common OnePlus 3 problems that are bugging the users. So, in today’s post, I will be listing the common OnePlus 3 Problems and Fixes for them.

Some of the most commonly complained OnePlus 3 problems include; connectivity issue with WiFi, Bluetooth, and data, push notification issue, auto-rotate issue, OnePlus 3 heating issue, OnePlus 3 battery draining problem, OnePlus 3 camera problem, Do Not Disturb not working properly, OnePlus 3 launcher crashing problem, RAM management problem, problem with Volume and Ringtones, heating issue etc.

Some of these issues were also present in earlier OnePlus devices, and OnePlus did a good job fixing them. Most of these OnePlus 3 common problems are software related issues, so you can be sure that OnePlus will resolve them through software updates.

In the meantime, we have few workarounds to fix OnePlus 3 common problems and fixes. These workarounds will temporarily allow you to fix the issue until the official fix is released by OnePlus.

Note: Not every owner of OnePlus 3 will face these issues as the issues can be unit specific. For those are facing problems with their OnePlus 3 here are few workaround to get them fixed.

    Fix OnePlus 3 OTG Issue

OnePlus 3 comes with 64 GB of internal storage, which is sufficient enough for your day to day work. However, as the external storage is getting more advanced and cheaper, if you have the hobby of collecting high-resolution videos, then you may run out of the storage space before you could even think about it.

In such situation, an external SD card support would come in handy. However, OnePlus 3 does not have any SD card slot for memory expansion beyond 64 GB. Fortunately, OnePlus 3 comes with OTG (On The Go).

Using the OTG feature, you can connect your external storage device such as USB flash drive to the phone. Using the OTG cable allows you to expand storage using external storage devices.

Some of the OnePlus 3 users have reported that the OnePlus 3 is not recognising their external storage device when connected to the phone. This issue can be resolved by enabling OTG feature.

To do this, go to Settings >> Storage and USB >> and tap on three dots menu. Make sure that you enable OTG here.

Now connect your external storage device to OnePlus 3 and your phone will recognise the device for sure. If it did not work, try restarting your device and try again. If nothing works, you may have to wait for the official firmware update to fix this issue.

Fix OnePlus 3 Push Notification Issue

Push Notification is a real handy feature in any smartphone. However, some OnePlus 3 users have reported problem receiving push notifications. The device does not push notifications as received and the users have to open the messaging app to see the new messages. This is true for messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

This seems to be a software issue, and mostly the fix will be available in the next update. However, there are few things that you can try to fix push notification issue in OnePlus 3.

    Enable Push Notifications for Apps
    – In OnePlus 3 you can select which app can send push notification and which app cannot. Make sure that have push notifications allowed for the apps that you use the most.

To do this, go to Settings >> Sound and Notification p>
Make sure none of the apps you use have been added to the Do Not Disturb list. Adding apps to DND will stop Push Notifications.

Use Third Party Apps – If still facing the problem, you can make use of third-party apps to enable push notifications. Apps such as Push Notification Fixer can help temporarily fix this issue.

    OnePlus 3 RAM Management Problem

OnePlus 3 come with a generous amount of RAM of 6GB. 6GB of RAM in any smartphone should help the device run smoothly even while doing heavy multitasking.

However, in case of OnePlus 3, the device’s software is still unable to make most out of the 6GB of RAM and use it to its potential. The phone closes background apps when the users open multiple apps to keep the device going. This doesn’t seem to be an ideal solution for a device with unused RAM space.

Fortunately, this isn’t a hardware issue, and OnePlus has taken note of this problem. According to the company, the patch for this issue will be rolled out soon after testing. You can check for latest software updates on OnePlus 3 by going to Settings >> System updates.

    OnePlus 3 Auto-Rotate Problem

OnePlus 3 has yet another strange but a small problem, and that is related to the screen orientation of the phone. Some of the users have reported that the OnePlus 3 does not change its screen orientation from portrait to landscape when being switched. This isn’t an ideal situation if you prefer to browse the web in landscape mode or if you play games on your phone.

There are quite a few things that you can try to fix this issue.

    Quick Restart
    – A quick restart at times can fix temporary problems. So, perform a quick restart and see if the problem has been resolved.

    Troubleshooting
    – Third party apps can also cause this problem and may interfere with your phone’s ability to change screen orientation. If you are facing this problem after installing any third-party app, you may want to uninstall that app.
You can also try booting into Safe Mode to see if this is a device related issue or app related issue.

To boot into Safe Mode turn off the phone. Next, press and hold the power button until the device vibrates and starts booting. As soon as it starts booting, press and hold Volume Up Volume Down button simultaneously. Keep it pressed until the device has been restarted. Unlock your screen and you should be in Safe Mode.

If the screen orientation works when booted into Safe Mode, a third-party app might be causing the error, and you should remove that app to fix this issue.

    Third Party Apps
    – You can also try a third-party app such as Rotation Control that allows you to manually change screen orientation.

    Hardware Fault
    – Try to download apps such as GPS
