When Windows 10 users turn on the Reservation program and try to click something it shows error message like “GWXUX has stopped working”. GWXUX.EXE was installed by Windows Update KB3035583. This update was put out in late May by Microsoft with virtually no explanation of its purpose. It is, however, a shill for Windows 10. It is intended to put pop-ups on your screen inviting you to install Windows 10. Most people would call is a "potentially unwanted program" or PUP. I was able to resolve the problem of the "stopped working" notification by doing a System Restore to a time before this message began appearing. I then went to Windows Update in the Control Panel and removed this update. Anybody who wants to avoid the Windows 10 popups that come with this update should also remove it. GWXUX is generally referred to as a benign process. Technically, its objective is to ensure a smooth upgrade to Windows 10 in the situations where the user qualifies for it based on the current operating system build. More specifically, this applies to all Windows 7 and 8 customers as long as their version is official and properly activated. The update is an opt-in. In order to launch the transition procedure, the person needs to click the ‘Get Windows 10’ icon located in the taskbar and then follow the fairly intuitive directions. This, however, is the ideal scenario that may have a few shady facets. First off, not everyone welcomes the upgrade, for whatever purposes. Some people discover that one or a few of their important applications are not compatible with the new OS. Others have read plenty of IT forums discussing the related bugs, crashes and privacy concerns. Anyway, there are cases when users wish to opt out and never receive the reminders. Fix 1 : Remove the update GWXUX.EXE program was installed via Windows Update KB3035583. Do a System Restore to a time before this error message began appearing. Then navigate to Control panel -> Uninstall programs and remove the particular update. Fix 2: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter. Press the Windows Key. Press search bar. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and Click on Troubleshooting. Press View All and then click on Windows Update. If the issue still persist, refer to the below method. Fix 3: Temporary solution Right click the Task bar and navigate to Properties. Click the Customize button in the Taskbar. When you see windows 10 change it to : hide notifications and icon.
