How to create and customize an avatar item on Xbox One

You can create a new avatar or customize your existing avatar with free or purchasable styles, and take a high-resolution gamerpic to show off your unique style.

Customize your avatar
Create a new avatar

To create a new avatar, follow these steps:

1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
2. Go to the top icon in the guide, highlight your profile, and press the A button on your controller.
3. Select My profile.
4. Select Customize profile.
5. Select Create avatar.
6. Select the avatar you want, and then press the A button on your controller.

If you created an avatar but want to change it to a different person, follow these steps:

1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
2. Go to the top icon in the guide, highlight your profile, and press the A button on your controller.
3. Select My profile.
4. Select Customize profile.
5. Select Edit avatar.
6. Press the Menu button on your controller and select Settings.
7. Select Create new avatar.
8. Select Continue to confirm.

Find and customize your avatar items

To adjust the style of your avatar, follow these steps:

1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
2. Go to the top icon in the guide, highlight your profile, and press the A button on your controller.
3. Select My profile.
4. Select Customize profile.
5. Select Edit avatar.
6. Customize your avatar, and then press the X button on your controller to save your changes.

Purchase new avatar styles

When you customize your avatar, you can also buy new avatar styles. You can do this two ways:

• If you're already customizing your avatar in the Xbox Avatars app, press the Menu button on your controller. You can select Avatar store to find new items to purchase for your avatar. Choose the new style you want, and then select Purchase. Select Confirm to purchase the new style.
• From the Xbox Avatars app, you can also press the Menu button on your controller and select Style to review free customizations. If you want to find more for purchase, select Get more styles. Choose the new style you want, and then select Purchase. Select Confirm to purchase the new style.

Customize your gamerpic
Take a gamerpic with your avatar on Xbox One

To take a customized gamerpic, follow these steps:

1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
2. Go to the top icon in the guide, highlight your profile, and press the A button on your controller.
3. Select My profile.
4. Select Edit avatar.
5. Press the Menu button on your controller and select Take a photo.
6. Toggle between the Animations and Background tabs to select the pose you want.
7. Place your avatar where you want it in front of your chosen background.
8. Select the View button on your controller to take a picture of your avatar.
9. Select Save as gamerpic.

Note You can also select Email picture to email this gamerpic to your Microsoft account.
