How to Install Android Apps on Windows 10 Mobile: 2 Methods

    Windows 10 Mobile will be available for public release soon. However, the Microsoft has already released preview of Windows 10 Mobile for developers and testers who would like to test and report the bug to Microsoft.

    This is similar to what we have seen with Windows 10 technical preview. Recently we heard about a guy from China porting the first Android app to Windows 10 Mobile. So, today we will be having a look at how to install Android Apps on Windows 10 Mobile.

    The ability to install Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile using the APK would come in handy when you don’t have similar app available on Windows Phone store. In such cases, you can always download the Apk file of the Android app and install it on your Windows 10 Mobile running phone.

    Now there are two ways to Install Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile. The first method requires you to use command prompt with other required tools, whereas the second method is pretty straight forwards with third-party tools. The second method has an advantage over the first method and that is the ability to install Android Apps with Google services. So, let’s have a look at them and learn how to install Android Apps on Windows 10 Mobile.

    Note: This method involves risk, follow it on your own risk. Maksure you have supported Lumia device running on latest Windows 10 mobile build.

    Supported Lumia Devices:

    Method 1: Install Android Apps on Windows 10 Mobile Using WConnect tool

    Pre-requisites:
    • Any above mentioned Nokia Lumia device running Windows 10 Mobile Built 10149
    • Download ADB tool to your PC from here and extract / unzip it
    • Download WConnect tool to your PC from here extract / unzip it
    Follow these steps to install Android Apps Windows 10 Mobile.
    1. Begin with installing IpOverUsbInstaller.msi and vcredist_x86.exe on your PC. If you already have it installed, then proceed with step
    2. Now on your Windows 10 Mobile running phone go to, Settings > Update and Security > Developers. From here select Developer Mode and turn on Device Discovery. Next, tap on Pair button to get the pairing code. Note down the pairing code somewhere.
    3. Now on your PC, open Command prompt as Administrator. From the command prompt window, navigate to WConnect tools extracted folder.
    4. Connect your Phone to PC using USB cable and run the command wconnect.exe usb. Now you will be prompted to enter a pairing code, enter the pairing code and hit enter.
    5. Now again run Command prompt as Administrator and navigate to or go to ADB folder you extracted.
    6. Type “ADB Devices” and hit enter. This will show the list of all the devices that are connected.
    7. Now download or move the Android app APK you want to install to the ADB folder. In the command prompt enter “ADB install whatsapp.apk” and hit enter.
    8. Here whatsapp.apk is your Android app apk name. So, replace whatsapp with your app name. Next, wait until the app is installed on your Windows 10 Mobile running Lumia device. Once you see the success message, you can run the app from your Windows 10 Mobile phone.

    Method 2: Install Android Apps With Google Service on Windows 10 Mobile


    Pre-Requisites:
    • Lumia Phone running on Windows 10 Mobile Build 10149
    • Download APK Deployment Tool from here
    • Download GMaps Patcher from here
    • Download Android App apk that you want to install on Windows 10 Mobile
    Follow these steps to install Android Apps with Google service on Windows 10 Mobile.
