Microsoft released Windows 10, it came with one of the best personal voice assistant Cortana and when you tried to make a simple search using Cortana, you came to know that Bing is the default search engine for Cortana. Moreover, there is no option in Windows 10 to change Cortana’s default search engine from Bing to Google.

Today we will look at the methods available to set Google Search as default for Cortana in Windows 10.

Not everyone prefers Bing over Google, and when it is being forced on the user, they are tend to get annoyed.

This was same with Windows 10’s default browser, which has been set to Microsoft Edge. Fortunately, you can always set Chrome or Firefox as default browser in Windows 10.

Now to tackle this issue, few developers came up with new Chrome extensions as well as Firefox extensions, which would allow you to set Google as default search for Cortana.

Let’s have a look at these extensions and how to use them.

How to Set Google Search as Default for Cortana in Window 10

    1. Use Chrometana to Redirect Cortana searches to Google

Three developers named as Browne, Clair Pitman and Maayan Kline came with a new extension called Chrometana.

It is a Chrome extension that redirects Cortana searches or bing searches to your preferred search engine including Google, Duck Duck Go and yahoo search.

Once you install the extension from Chrome store, it will force Cortana to search through Google or any other search engine of your choice. The Chrometana extension is open source and developers can find the source code on GitHub.

Note: Make sure that you have set your default browser to Chrome in Windows 10.

    Get Chrometana for Chrome

    2.Use Bing2Google extension

Bing2Google is a yet another Chrome extension which allows you to redirect Cortana searches to Google instead of Bing.

The only requirement is that you should have Google Chrome set as default browser in Windows 10. All you have to do is, install the extension from Chrome store and start searching through Google.

This would also work if you want to redirect Bing desktop search to Google in Windows 10.

    3. Use Redirector Extension for Firefox Users

If you are a Firefox user and want to set Google search as default for Cortana instead of Bing, Redirector extension can do this task with ease. Unlike other two extension the Redirector extension for Firefox requires a bit of work.
    1. Open your Firefox browser and go to Redirector extension.
    2. Add redirector on Firefox.
    3. Open the extension and configure it like mentioned below.
Description : Leave this field empty
    Example URL : https://www.bing.com/search?q=*
