Quiet Hours is a Windows 10 feature that allows you to work without any distraction. By enabling Quiet hours in Windows 10, you can disable all the incoming push notifications temporarily. In today’s round, I will show you how to set up Quiet hours in Windows 10 to disable all the app notifications.

In Windows 10, if an app needs your attention, it would show a pop-up notification at the lower right corner of your screen. The pop-up notification could be anything from Facebook, Gmail notification to your anti-virus update notification and a driver malfunctioning notification.

If you didn’t click on the notification as it appears, it would fade away. However, you can alway access these notifications from the Action Center. Opening the Action Center would list all the recent notifications that require your attention. The most critical will be shown with a red mark.

Even though the push notification in Windows 10 is a handy feature, it may be a cause of distraction at times. If you are working on a presentation or presenting something, you wouldn’t want a random notification popping up on your screen. To avoid this, you can enable Quite hours in Windows 10.

Quite hours in Windows 10 works like Do Not Disturb mode. When the Quite hours feature is enabled in Windows 10, it will stop pop-up notifications from appearing on your screen. Though, you can later view these notifications from the Action Center.

Turn On and Off Quite Hours

The Quite hours feature can be accessed from the action center. Click on the Action Center icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar. From here click on Quite hours to turn it On. If you want to Turn Off Quite Hours, then click on it once again, and it would be disabled.

Alternatively, you can also turn On Quiet Hours by right clicking on Action Center icon. Right-click on the Action Center icon and select “Turn on Quite hours”. To disable it, right-click again and select “Turn Off Quiet hours”.

One thing you may want to note here is that unlike Windows 8.1, in Windows 10 the Quiet Hours does not support automatic action. You cannot set it to turn on and turn off at a specific time. This was possible with Windows 8.1, but the current version of Windows 10 does not support it yet. So, you have to enable and disable Quiet hours from the Action Center manually.

Turn Off Notification for All Apps in Windows 10

If you are getting annoyed with all the app notifications popping up on your screen all the time, then you can turn off notifications for all apps in Windows 10 at once. Windows 10 gives you the option to turn off app notification.

To access the Notification settings, open Action Center and right-click on the Quiet hours icon. Select Settings option and it will open Notifications and Actions settings window. Alternatively, you can also open it from Start > Settings > System > Notification and action. Here toggle the “Show app notification” switch to Off.

Turn Off Notifications for the Selected Apps in Windows 10

If you don’t want to turn off notifications for all the apps in Windows 10, then you can turn off notifications for selected apps only. This way you can turn off only the apps showing annoying notifications continuously without disabling notification for all the apps.
To do this, go to Settings > System > Notifications and Actions. Scroll down to “Show notifications from these apps”. Here you will see all the apps for which notification is turned on.

Click on the app to which you want to turn off the notification. Next, you can turn off “Notification” “Show notification banner” and “Play a sound when a notification arrives” option.

Turn off Notification on the Lock Screen

You can also disable notification on the lock screen in Windows. This would make your lock screen look less busy. To turn off notifications on the lock screen, go to Settings > System > Notification and action and toggle the “Show notifications on the lock screen” switch to Off.

    Hide Notifications During Presentation

Windows 10 also allows you to hide notification during a presentation. By default the option to “hide notification while presenting” is turned off but you can turn it on from Settings > System > Notifications and action, and turn on “hide notifications while presenting” option.
